I fell in love with basketball when I was in third grade, whether it was playing it or watching it at major tournaments. But the more time I spent around the game of women's basketball the more I noticed the disparities between our male counterparts. I watched the male teams at the same level as me (travel teams, AAU teams, middle school teams, high school teams etc.) that I played for recieve more. Whether that be newer uniforms, better quality basketballs or priority practice times. It fired up emotions within me. Female sports coverage has gotten better but there still isn't nearly as much coverage as there is for men's sports. Women work just as hard and present just as much high-quality talent as male athletes. I will continue to fight for equality between men's and women's sports through the voice I have in my writing. Equality in sports is my passion and I want people to know that women's sports matter too.
